In her own words: "Like so many Atlantans, I am a transplant! I earned my Master’s Degree in Counseling and completed a post-graduate program in School Counseling at Oakland University -- located in Rochester, Michigan. I began my career as a school counselor and worked with high-school, middle-school, and alternative-education students in the Metro-Detroit area by day. By night I worked with adults as a therapist at a small private practice near Detroit. A few years later I relocated to Ohio and began a new career in crisis counseling services. It was like night and day compared to my previous work! Working in crisis included everything from emergency mental health evaluations and crisis interventions to admissions to inpatient treatment facilities. After moving to Atlanta, and working in crisis briefly, I decided it was time to return to my roots as an outpatient therapist.
As a private-practice therapist I usually work with clients on a short-term basis -- less than one year. These clients are often experiencing an adjustment in life such as divorce, parenting, career changes, relocation, changes in lifestyle, etc. They may be experiencing symptoms such as depression, anxiety, loss of interest in activities, or simply not feeling like themselves anymore. If this sounds like you, don’t hesitate to contact me. Talk to you soon!"
Emily recently joined the Fleurish team and currently has weekday and evening appointments for self-pay and sliding.
